Reiki
refers not only to the energy from the higher dimension, but also to the system
of Reiki that developed from Usui Sensei's teachings
Usui
trained from an early age, when he entered a Tendai Buddhist monastery near
Kuramayama, developing endless skills throughout his life from 'Kikou'. (Qigong)
and martial arts to Chinese Medicine and psychic development, enthusiastically
studying many religions and healing methods. He disciplined himself to study
more and more, and he undertook Buddhist meditation and fasting practices
and it was during one of these strict spiritual training methods that he was blessed with the gift of
Reiki from the universe.
He
offered regular empowerments in the form of 'blessings' to his students which developed into a version of 'Reiju'
and changed to 'attunement' in the West.
In Western teaching, one could think that
the attunement to Reiki
alone
gives you the ability to heal, however
the attunement is only the beginning.
Reiki
I/Shoden level will empower you to connect with universal energy to awaken
your innate ability to heal, but to develop this ability one needs to work
with the energy, the Reiki techniques, receive regular empowerments and most of
all to live
by the Reiki Concepts
for spiritual growth, and ultimately
enlightenment.
Usui
sensei found enlightenment to be ‘Anshin Ritsumei’, being at peace with your
path in life and letting nothing disturb you. This could be looked at as his
first revelation of enlightenment or ‘Satori’
When
he was empowered with the Reiki energy during his meditation and fast on Mt.
Kurama in March 1922, (which, as the story goes, was so powerful that he was
knocked unconscious), he received the ultimate enlightenment by his strong
connection to the universe. (At one with the universe).
Usui
taught over 2000 students, and one of them was Dr. Chujiro Hayashi. Dr Hayashi
taught Mrs. Hawayo Takata who brought Reiki to the western world. Reiki has been
taught in the west as 'Usui Shiki Ryoho', a system focusing on the healing of
others. Most western Reiki students have their lineage through Takata and
Hayashi.
Even in Japan, many Reiki students have a western lineage. The energy
lineage is important when passing on Reiki and the energy
lineage of The Energy Beam's Usui Reiki Ryoho is: Mikao Usui, Chujiro Hayashi, Chiyoko Yamaguchi,
Rev Hyakuten Inamoto, Raymonde Leeumans, (also Richard R. Rivard) Sheila
Neville.
So
Usui's original 'way' of spiritual growth based on healing and development of
the self has been modified into a system of hands-on healing of others. The
energy has been passed on from Reiki Master to Reiki Master and no doubt has
made an enormous difference to the world. There are many versions of Reiki, some
with very basic teachings, and some more complicated, which include the 1926
techniques similar to Qigong. Some versions of Reiki now teach Usui Teate
alongside the other methods.
By
attending Shuyo-Kai meetings
you can receive further
empowerments to the loving energy of Reiki, and assistance from the Reiki Master
to practise the traditional Japanese Reiki techniques.
